Video Blog 14 – Our ride through Thailand

For the entirety of the Thailand trip (all 3 days of it!) I had the camera mounted on the handlebars taking a photo every 2 seconds.  We’ll probably try to do the same for Vietnam if we can find a place to store the photos.  I’ve put what I found to be the more interesting periods at a slightly slower pace and sped up the somewhat monotonous hours through the Read More...

Cycling day 59 – Pretchaburi to Hua Hin

The final day of our short adventure in Thailand started with a fairly dodgy attempt at an English breakfast and somewhat baffled looks as we loaded up the bikes in the open air hotel reception. Insufficiently loaded with water, we visited a local shop but found the owner in a deep sleep. We rolled on and loaded up on water – our few words in Thai got a nice reaction from the shop owner. Read More...

Cycling Day 58 – Samut Songkhram to Petchaburi

Having taken quite a roundabout route to the hotel last night given the somewhat annoying one way system and river in the way, we were relieved to be informed by the hotel staff that there was actually a ferry which would take us straight back to town.  While there were a few scooters driving on, I don’t think a heavily laden touring bicycle was a common sight from the attention Read More...

Video Blog 13 – Thailand – Leaving from Bangkok

We decided to sneak in a 3 day ride from Bangkok towards Hua Hin before we head to Vietnam.  This video was taken as we prepared to leave the hotel into the chaotic streets of Bangkok. We’ve captured the whole ride on time lapse Go Pro footage so we can relive it in the future and also so you can experience the ride as well. This video will be added Read More...

Cycling Day 57 – Bangkok to Samut Songkhram

Sam and I have had a break from cycling for about 3 weeks since completing the US leg of our trip. We’ve been travelling around a bit and catching up with friends who came out to visit us in Vegas and then Mexico. Prior to this break, cycling had become our normal routine so it’s been pretty odd having this time off. We were both keen to get on the Read More...

Cycling Day 56 – San Diego to MEXICAN BORDER

Today was like the final stage of the Tour de France wearing the yellow jersey – all the hard work had been done and we were free to cruise into town amidst the throng of cheering people dying to get a glimpse of their heroes on their way to certain victory.  OK, that might be a slight exaggeration but it’s not too far from what was going on in our Read More...

Video Blog 10 – Crossing Los Angeles (Time Lapse)

I finally remembered the time lapse feature on the GoPro and decided to give it a go as we crossed Los Angeles – I think it worked out quite well.  I think for our upcoming trips I’ll probably try to do this for nearly the entire trip, even though it takes up a staggering amount of space in photos.  It starts in Malibu and ends near Huntington beach when the Read More...

Cycling day 55 – Dana Point to San Diego

Having been lured into a cool bar showing the Saints vs Dolphins game at Dana Point we had a pretty long day ahead. We got up early to make up the extra 10km we skipped last night and added them to todays 90+ kilometre ride. We popped down to the Proud Marys at the harbour for breakfast based on a recommendation we were given at the Still Water bar last Read More...
