Cycling Day 72 – Da Nang to Hoi An
Big mistake this morning – I’ve got into the habit of formatting my GoPro card every morning after taking the pictures from the previous day off. This morning I didn’t realise that I hadn’t yet copied off the 20 minute video of coming down the Hai Van pass from yesterday, which is now unfortunately lost forever 🙁 In better news however, I had managed to sneak out of the hotel early for a quick Mi Quang for breakfast and given that we were only in Da Nang for one night, we had already planned to go for a seafood lunch overlooking the beach on the way out of town. We left over the dragon bridge which is less spectacular during the day but is still pretty impressive.
Today’s ride was pretty easy – just a short 30km or so down to An Bang beach and then a right turn into Hoi An. The road was both very quiet and flat – no major incidents to report. We wound around Hoi An a bit which gave us a good chance to have a look around. We’re now here in Hoi An for a few days until the monthly festival occurs on the 16th with the full moon. Hoi An is one of the places that gets the absolutely glowing reviews from almost everyone that comes here, so we’re hoping it lives up to the billing!
