Cycling Day 12 – Chehalis to Longview
After a bit of a restless night, due to uneven ground, we headed out for the fifth day in a row. We wanted to make up for yesterdays rather unfortunate detour and get to Longview. We’ve decided to go off route to visit Portland.
We set off a little later than planned after a spot of reading and a second outing of the questionable coffee press (thinking Starbucks instant might of been a better shout). Once we got moving we both commented on how lifeless our legs felt, especially after the first hill. Luckily the weather was cooler and the ride was pretty flat and we made good progress through Toledo to Castle Rock. We spotted a pretty amusing shed on route and came up with a new game trying to get cows to return our moo attempts – unsuccessfully at this point 🙂
Once we got to Castle Rock we eventually found some decent wifi and had some lunch. Sams penchant for bread was evident in his massive bag of cheesy hoagies.
We checked into a motel in the absence of campsites and were glad to find a decent hot tub to soak our weary limbs. The receptionist suggested a good micro brewery which turned out to be pretty good. The wines we chose weren’t the best but good fun was had. We’re having a rest day tomorrow to let the heads and legs recover 🙂
